Janice L. Hagemann

Janice L. Hagemann, a longtime resident of Short Hills, NJ, passed away this past Saturday, March 15, 2014. Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation on March 18, 2014, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, at 415 Morris Ave., Springfield, NJ., and a memorial service at Community Congregation Church, 200 Hartshorn Drive, Short Hills, NJ, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday March 19, 2014. Janice was born on Feb. 25, 1926, in Garden City, NY. She attended school there and graduated from Garden City High School, in 1943. She went on to graduate from Brown (Pembroke) University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Spanish in 1949. She then worked in New York City for IBM for five years working directly for the president of the company, Mr. Watson. She then married Donald E. Hagemann of Short Hills, NJ. They had two daughters: Nancy Hagemann Kuhn and Elizabeth P. Hagemann. Janice was a member of the Short Hills Community Congregational Church. She and her husband Don were members of Beacon Hill Club, of Summit, NJ and Rock Spring Club of West Orange, NJ. She was an active participant in tennis and golf activities throughout her life. She was also very active in charitable pursuits. She was the president of Pembroke College Alumni Association, an active member of the Overlook Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and a member of the Rolling Hills Garden Club. In her later years she became an avid bridge player, playing in bridge groups at Rock Spring Club and with friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her daughters Nancy and Elizabeth and her granddaughter Stefani. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Hagemann Kuhn and her son in law John Kuhn and granddaughter Stefani Kuhn. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Short Hills Community Congregational Church.
