Janice E. Kroeger
08/03/1926 - 04/10/2015

Janice Louise Eddy Kroeger died April 10th, 2015, in Summit, NJ. Janice was born in Minot, North Dakota, August 3rd, 1926, and was raised in Fargo, North Dakota by her mother, Mabel Lampman Eddy, and her father, William Eddy. Janice’s parents and siblings, Donald Eddy, Wayne Eddy, and Mary Lou Holmes, predeceased her. Janice graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and while at Northwestern, she met her husband, John. Janice and John Francis Kroeger celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October 1998, just prior to his death.

While raising her children, Janice was a member of the Short Hills Junior League, working with New Eyes for the Needy and other programs. In Short Hills, she co-founded an investment club and served as a Girl Scout leader. Janice did exquisite knitting and needlework, from knitting each child, grandchild, and great grandchild a personalized Christmas stocking to doing counted cross stitch embroidery and crewel work, and creating sophisticated needlework pillow covers. An amazing entertainer, she was known for her dinner parties and love of Judy Garland music. She also loved Chopin’s Polonaises, which she played on her baby grand piano. Her group of friends from high school in Fargo maintained their friendship, from high school potluck dinners to letter and photo sharing, friend to friend by post, through their adult years. Janice treasured her potluck friends and often spoke of their reunion to celebrate turning 60. She was a member of the Eddy Family Foundation, an organization dedicated to celebrating the Eddy family, descendants of Vicar William Eddye of Cranbrook, England, and his sons Samuel and John, early pilgrims to Massachusetts.

She leaves three children, for whom she created many memories from warm, traditional Christmases highlighted by Santa’s sleigh bells, saved from snowy North Dakota, to homemade birthday cakes. Her surviving children are Caryn Maxim (Bernard) of Morristown, NJ; Lin Kroeger (Alan Johnson) of Skaneateles, NY; and Jack Kroeger (Maureen) of New Providence, NJ and six grandchildren: Jennifer Webster (Paul); Jacquelyn Kroeger; Sean Kroeger; Caitlyn Kroeger; Kyle Kroeger; and Janice Johnson. She also has two great grandchildren, Claire Webster and Justin Webster.
