Plan for the Future
Jane Lew, 92, of Spring Hills Assisted Living and New Brunswick, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 11th, 2016. She is survived by two children, Sally Tsiang and husband, Charles, of Summit, NJ and Raymond Lew and wife, Marie of East Windsor, NJ, and 5 grandchildren, Phillip, Matthew, Lauren, Kristen and Michael.
A private funeral service will be held on July 14th.
Born and raised in Welland, Ontario, Canada, until she was 13 when her family relocated to China for an extended visit. The family was unable to leave the country when WWII broke out. Recently married, Jane left China on one of the last ships as the Communists took over the country. When they arrived on the west coast, they immediately headed east. There Jane raised two children and due to her fluency in both Chinese and English, was the point person for many recently arrived Chinese immigrants. She helped get children into school, adults registered in ESL classes, complete applications of all sorts, go to doctors’ appoints and parent-teacher conferences, and whatever else it took to help relatives and family friends get established and assimilated as quickly and smoothly as possible. Jane was so pleased when she was able to help. She was also the face to the community for the extended family business in New Brunswick, NJ.
