James R Waldron, Jr.

James R. Waldron, Jr. of Chatham, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was 74.


Born in Saranac New York, Jim was a 1954 graduate of St. Benedict’s Prep and a 1958 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy from 1959-1963. Upon completing his service, Jim began his career in banking with Irving Trust in New York, remaining with Irving Trust through the merger with Bank of New York until 1990, when he moved to Bank of Tokyo, where he remained until retiring in 1997.


A devoted father and husband, Jim and his wife Patricia raised their family in Chatham, where Jim was an avid platform tennis player, golfer and member of the Fairmount Country Club. He was dedicated to improving the lives of others and enjoyed his involvement with Habitat for Humanity, traveling many times to Guatemala to build homes. Jim was an active parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Notre Dame “Bull Dogs”, who met annually over the last quarter of a century to celebrate their basketball endeavors at Notre Dame and continue their friendships through golf and laughter.


Jim is predeceased by his beloved wife, the late Patricia (nee’ Reilly) and son Robert E. Waldron. He is survived by his loving children, James R. Waldron, III, Christopher R. Waldron, Colleen E. Huggins and her husband Robert Huggins and Michael S. Waldron and his wife Amy; his grandchildren, Emmet, Erin, William and Julia Waldron; sisters, Joanne Dwyer (the late Hon. Arthur Dwyer) and Mary Ellen McLaughlin and her husband James as well as a his nieces, cousins,extended relatives and friends too numerous to mention, but all dear to him.
