~~James P. McLaughlin, 82, of Whippany passed away at his home on November 28th. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Whippany Rd, Whippany, on Tuesday, December 2nd, at 10:30am. Interment is private. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd, Whippany, on Monday, December 1st, from 4 to 8pm.
Born in Montclair and raised in Bloomfield James moved to Whippany in 1962. He was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School. James worked for NJ Bell Telephone Company. Beginning in the mailroom, he worked his way up to Technical Operations Supervisor before retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Our Lady of Mercy Parish.
James was the beloved husband of 61 years to Jean. He was the loving father of Maureen Staples and her husband John, Thomas and his wife SueAnn, Kevin, and Michael and his partner Larry. He is also survived by his cherished 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and his dear brother Kenneth and his wife Rose Marie. He is predeceased by his son James, Jr. and sister Maureen. In lieu of flowers, donations in James’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
