Herbert Scheuermann

Herbert Scheuermann, 83, of Hillside, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at home.

Born in Newark, Herbert lived in Hillside for most of his life. A veteran of the US Army, he served in Japan during the Korean War. He was a cabinet maker for Panacon, Inc in East Brunswick for many years, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3197 in Hillside and for many years was member of the Holy Name Society of St. Peter’s Parish in Newark. Herbert enjoyed woodworking, and spending time at his house in the Poconos, especially celebrating “Christmas in the Country.” He liked tinkering in his garden, and was known for growing rhubarb.

Predeceased by his parents, Josef and Rosa, and sisters Elsa Dietsch and Anna Scheuermann. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Linda Ormosi and her husband Otto, Barbara Dietsch, Elsa Courter and her husband Bill, Anita St. Laurent and her husband Bob, and Russell Dietsch and his wife Diane, 7 great nieces and nephews and 6 great-great nephews and several cousins in the United States and Germany.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10am at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, 954 Stuyvesant Ave., Irvington. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. There will be a visitation on Friday from 4-7 pm at the Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave., Union.
