Henry A. Fischer Jr.

Born and raised in Caldwell, NJ, Henry attended Caldwell High School where he was a wrestling and track & field standout while working in his parent’s bakery. Henry then attended Monmouth University in Long Branch, NJ, to wrestle and study Chemistry. After Monmouth, Henry began teaching and running the family bakery on nights and weekends. On a National Science Foundation scholarship, he earned his Master’s in Chemistry at Colby College in Waterville, ME, during the following 3 summers.

Henry taught at Livingston High School for 32 years, coaching Ice Hockey and Track and Field and serving as the school district’s environmental officer. He was then hired by Seton Hall Preparatory as the Science department chair, where he worked another 11 years before retiring in 2011.

Outside of working, Henry was an avid New York sports fan, cheering on the Yankees, Giants, and Rangers, and enjoying a diverse set of interests including traveling, golfing, fishing, boating, scuba diving, cooking, and investing.

Henry is survived by wife of 37 years, Francine; his children, Henry III and his wife, Laura, and their children Kevin and Kayla; Christopher, Matthew, Steven, and Lauren; and his sister Elsie.
