Henry “Harry” A. Finkle, Jr., 77, of Chatham, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.

Harry was born on January 20, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Sr. and Edna (nee Hartley) Finkle.

Harry was a graduate of Paterson Technical School, Paterson, NJ and received his Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering from Farleigh Dickinson. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Cold War. Harry worked for Smith Industries for many years and worked on the design team for components of The Space Shuttle as well as many types of aircraft. He had the honor of training many of the first astronauts and pilots on the equipment his team designed. He was a Elder and member of Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township. He was a skilled vocalist who sang with the church choir, The Masterwork Chorus of Morris County and Coro Lirico. Harry was an Eagle Scout and Merit Badge Counselor of Troop 8 in Chatham Borough. Harry was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New Jersey Devils and loved going to games with his family, especially his grandsons.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia Finkle. He was the father to a son, Peter George Finkle and wife Megan Maillet Finkle, two grandsons, William Henry Finkle and Cooper Henderson Finkle, and four sisters, Jeanette Elaine, Edna Loretta, Barbara Irene, and Carole Patricia.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, 240 Southern Blvd., Chatham, NJ 07928. In memory of Harry, please forward donations to the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township.
