~~Helen M. Menendez, 94, of Maplewood passed away on December 4, 2016. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave. in Short Hills on Saturday, December 10th at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave. in Springfield on Friday from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. The daughter of George and Anastasia Peters (Petrulionis), Helen was raised in Harrison and Nutley. She resided in Short Hills before moving to Maplewood. Helen was stationed in Austria with the US State Department. She later worked for many years in the cosmetics industry and as a partner in her husband’s commercial cleaning company in New York City. A longtime parishioner at St. Rose of Lima, Helen enjoyed New York City, art and travel. She was a friend to all at Winchester Gardens.

Helen was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Menendez and beloved sister of the late Edward Peters. She was the loving sister-in-law of Margaret Peters and loving aunt of Mary Ellen Peters; Margaret Trum, her husband William and their children, Christopher Trum and his wife Kristen, David Trum and Stephanie Trum; Patricia Peters and her spouse Sonia Regalado; Rita Peters; and Susan Schnepf and her husband George. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Stephen Miss, his wife Angela and their children Abigail and Stephen; David Miss; and Sarah Miss, her husband Dan Vinkovetsky and their son Alexander. She is predeceased by her stepdaughter Lee Ann Miss. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Center for Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Rd, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.
