Grace Paddon
05/04/1937 - 02/19/2016

~~Grace Paddon, 78, of Convent Station died February 19, 2016 at Morristown Medical Center from complications caused by several years of declining health.

Born in 1937 in Canton, OH, Grace graduated from Wooster High School (OH) in 1955 and was a graduate of Wheaton College (IL) in 1959. With her husband Jack, she previously lived in Manhasset, NY; St. Paul and Edina, MN before moving to Chatham Township in 1973, where they lived before moving to Convent Station in 1999.

Her father, Arthur C. Beers (1880-1944) was an Ohio school superintendent and her mother, Grace Beers (1891-1986) a teacher, which instilled in Grace a lifelong interest in the importance of education in the shaping of children’s lives. In 1978, she was elected to the Chatham Township Board of Education and subsequently was elected President of the Board, serving through 1988. As Board President, she led the effort toward regionalization that resulted in the successful merger of the Chatham Township and Chatham Borough school systems in 1988.

An active member of Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, Grace and her husband Jack frequently taught Bible study classes. Their dedication to Christian service included many years of service and leadership in organizations such as Latin America Missions (LAM), Community Bible Study (CBS) and Interserve.

Grace is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jack Paddon; her three children, Steven Paddon of New York, NY, Kristen Paddon of Dayton, OH and Eric Paddon of Convent Station; and three grandchildren, Rebecca, Emily and Grace. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Beers of Wooster, OH.

Grace was loved and admired by many in the communities she lived in, the churches she attended through the years, and the organizations she was part of. Above all, she was loved by her family that she was devoted to for her entire life.

Memorial visiting hours will be held at Wm. A. Bradley & Son funeral Home, 345 Main St in Chatham on Thursday, February 25th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm.
