Gertrude “Trudy” Schwaemmle, 86, of Union, New Jersey passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Sunday, November 3, 2019.
Trudy was born on July 12, 1933 in Pforzheim, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich and Luise (nee Rossbach) Walter. Trudy immigrated from Germany in 1953, became a proud citizen of the United States in 1958 and was married to Willi Hans Schwaemmle on August 9, 1958.
She worked as a sample clerk at Ciba-Geigy/Novartis for 38 years. Trudy was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and served on the Altar Guild. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, taking in the sunshine, hosting her annual 4th of July Barbeque and Christmas Eve, and most importantly, spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Trudy was predeceased by her husband, Willi Hans Schwaemmle and sister, Margot Ernstberger. She was the loving mother of daughters; Heidi Schreck (Rich), Inge Schwaemmle and Andrea Glasser (Edward) and cherished grandmother of her 4 grandchildren, Stephanie and Ricky Schreck, Crisanne and Michael Glasser and great-grandmother of Logan Glasser.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union, NJ 07083 with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 pm in the funeral home. An interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 23 Vreeland Rd Suite 105, Florham Park, NJ 07932.
