Gerald V. “Jerry” Kielty

Gerald V. “Jerry” Kielty, 76, of Union, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Overlook Hospital.

Jerry was born on February 19, 1941 in Kingston, PA. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Viola (nee Evers) Kielty.

He was a graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, Newark, NJ. Jerry served in the United States Army from 1964-1969 during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Black Seal Fireman for Local #68 for 20 years.

Jerry loved the NY Yankees, NY Giants and Boston Celtics. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Patricia and brother, Tom. He was the loving father of Jennifer Kielty (Mike) and Maureen Kielty (Marty). He was the cherished grandpa of Tori, Katie, Aidan, Emma, and Lauren. In addition, he was survived by his brother, Richie and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at St. James the Apostle Church, 45 South Springfield Avenue, Springfield, NJ. Cremation will be private. In Jerry’s memory, donations can be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place
