Gerald Dodson

Gerald G. Dodson, of Cedar Knolls, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2013. He was 80 years old.

Gerald was born and raised in Redland, Maryland by his parents, Orville and Marguerite Dodson. He attended Gaithersburg High School and was a lifelong Masonic Bricklayer.

Gerald met his wife, Ethelyn, in 1950 while he was working with Union 1 in Washington, D.C. They were married in 1952 and remained together for over 60 years. They raised a son, Donald, in Cedar Knolls where they settled in 1956.

He was a true perfectionist in everything he did. Gerald was constantly learning new skills and could fix absolutely anything, from cars and trucks to clocks and watches. He and his wife also enjoyed hunting when they had the chance and enjoyed many quiet hours together walking through the woods.

Gerald was affiliated with both the New Jersey and International Bricklayers Unions, New Triangle Chapter 50, Crescent Temple AAONMS, Cincinnati Lodge #3, Valley of Central Jersey Scottish Rite, Hildale Park Presbyterian Church in Cedar Knolls, NJ, Ocean Community Church in Manahawkin, NJ, Lely Presbyterian Church in Naples, FL, and was a Life Member of both the Albert Music Hall Cultural Society in Waretown, NJ, and the National Rifle Association.

Gerald is predeceased by his son, the late Donald Dodson. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Ethelyn Dodson nee Coyle, and countless other family members and friends in both New Jersey and in his home state of Maryland.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Gerald on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00pm at the Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, located at 49 Whippany Road in Whippany. A Spiritual Service will be held following the visitation at 7:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 12:30pm at the Church of the Nazarine, 350 West Park Drive in Bridgeton, NJ. Burial will follow at Fernwood Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeton. Donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to the Hildale Park Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 85 Ridgedale Avenue, Cedar Knolls, NJ, 07927.
