It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Genevieve M Beninati. Gen passed peacefully with her loving family around her.
Born in 1924, Gen grew up in Union NJ, attended in St Elizabeth’s College in Convent Station and worked for the Internal Revenue Service.
In 1947, she married Salvatore Beninati, an attorney in Essex County NJ and then moved to East Orange.
While living in East Orange she was a member of All Souls Church and served as president of their Rosary Society. She volunteered at the East Orange Convalescent Home and served on the East Orange Republican Committee.
Genevieve authored a book of spiritual poems called “The Voice Within” copyrighted in 1978 by the Library of Congress in Washington DC.
Upon her husband’s death, Gen returned to her childhood home in Union, NJ to care for her mother until her passing.
Gen was a member of the Saint Michaels Church in Union NJ where she was an active member of the Rosary Society and the seniors.
Due to Covid restrictions, Gen was quietly interred at Gates of Heaven Cemetery and a mass at Saint Michaels Church will be held in her memory when services resume.
