Frederick Daniel Rice
02/24/1950 - 12/25/2020

Frederick Daniel Rice of Green Village, NJ, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, 2020, after a brief illness.  Fred was born on February 24, 1950 in Summit, NJ.  He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Marie Rice, also of Green Village.

Fred graduated from Chatham Township High School, class of 1968, and joined his father’s business shortly thereafter.  There he would work his way up to becoming president and owner of Doors, Inc., a major installer of commercial and industrial overhead doors.  Fred was a life long member of the Green Village Fire Department as well as a member of the New Jersey Carpenters Union.  In his spare time, Fred enjoyed deep sea fishing off Montauk and the Jersey shore, and spending time in his woodworking shop at home.  Above all, he looked forward to attending the yearly door conventions in Las Vegas with his colleagues.

Fred leaves behind a daughter, Jessica, her husband, Jeff, and two grandsons, Hunter and Logan, of Maricopa, AZ,  as well as, his son, Jason, and granddaughter Paisley of Green Village.  In addition, Fred is survived by his two sisters, Diane Spalding, and her husband Carl, of Naples, Florida and Elaine True, and her husband, Stephen, of Darien, CT, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Fred will forever be remembered by all who knew him for his generosity, humor, and kindness.  He brought joy to everyone he knew.  Fred was more like a big brother than a boss to his employees at Doors, Inc., many of whom have been with him for decades.
