Florence Pimpinelli, 89, of Springfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2014.

Born in 1924 to Josephine and Saverio Carrea in Jersey City, NJ, Florence and her family moved in 1964 to Springfield where she resided until her passing. Florence worked as a teacher’s assistant at Sandmeier Elementary School in Springfield, NJ, for approximately 20 years until her retirement in 1994.

Florence was a member of the Springfield Columbiettes and parishioner of St. James Church. She enjoyed cooking traditional Italian foods and sending care packages to awaiting family; she also loved to sew and read.

Florence is survived by her devoted daughter, Elaine Ortiz and her husband, Joseph; her loving son, Tim Pinelli; five nephews and three nieces. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Tara and Justin. Florence was predeceased by siblings Frank Carrea and Mary Riccio.

Family and friends may visit Bradley Smith & Smith Funeral Home at 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, on Wednesday from 5-7:00 pm and on Thursday from 9-9:45 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 am at St. James Church, Springfield, followed by entombment at The Chapel at Short Hills in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Millburn, NJ.
