Florence F. Montana, “Flo”, to her friends, passed away peacefully in Chatham, NJ on June 24, 2019. She was 87.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to Anthony and Clara Ponte, she was a life-long Brooklyn resident and enjoyed spending the winters in New Port Richey, Florida. Her beloved grandfather Anthony helped to raise her.
Mother to six children and grandmother of seven, her happiest times were spent with her family. She was an avid reader, gourmet cook, and cheered loudly for her favorite basketball team, the NY Knicks. She brought joy and sense of calm to those around her and will be remembered for her sweet voice, youthful presence, and kindness.
She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Montana, and leaves behind six adoring children; John and his wife Donna, Denise and her husband Stephen, Roland and his wife Ellen, Victoria and her husband Paul, Tina and her husband Luis, and Janet.
She was devoted to her grandchildren; Adam and his wife Jackie, Jenna, Jaclyn, Marcos, Maia, Emily, and Alexandra. She was predeceased by her loving brother Joseph Ponte, and her sisters-in-law Lydia Montana and Jeanie Ponte.
