Born in Newark, NJ, Evelyn was the daughter of the late John and Teresa Lurz.  Evelyn will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She had been a resident of Summit, NJ for 63 years and was a faithful member of St. Teresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Summit, New Jersey.  She was a President of the Springfield Senior Center, and enjoyed dancing, playing cards, fashion, and spending time at the Jersey Shore.  Her greatest joys were times spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death in 1989 by her beloved husband of 49 years, John P. Derrig; two sisters, Irene Bollwage and Amelia Lurz; and two brothers, Louis Lurz and John Lurz.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Patricia (John) Pawlicki, Chatham, NJ, and Maureen (Richard) Gebhard, Bel Air, MD; cherished grandchildren , Lynn (John Bradley) Pawlicki, Springfield, NJ; John P. Pawlicki, Chatham, NJ; Tricia (James) Cafone, Collegeville, PA; Christopher (Andrea) Gebhard, Abingdon, MD; Noelle (Lee) Hall, Bel Air, MD, along with eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Hunter and Conner Hall; Dylan and Bailey Cafone; and Francis, Caroline and Carson Gebhard.

Our family wishes to thank the entire staff at Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Chatham, NJ for the compassion and extraordinary care that they provided our Mother during her stay with them.  We will not forget their kindness to her and to our family.
