Ernest “Sonny” Kuffer, of Mountainside, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Newark, Ernest has lived in Mountainside for over 65 years. He was a manager at Anheuser-Busch in Newark for over 40 years, and was a member of the Mountainside Volunteer Fire Dept for over 25 years. Ernest was an avid fisherman, who loved to travel. Every year he enjoyed a reunion in Aruba with his friends.
Predeceased by his wife Constance; Ernest is survived by his longtime special companion, Helen Heitmann and her family; his children Debbie Kuffer and her husband Donald Metzger, son E. Scott Kuffer and his wife Annmarie; and grandchildren Scott and Christian Kuffer
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10am at the Bradley Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield. Entombment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. There will be a visitation on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home and on Saturday morning, from 9 until the start of the service at 10.
