Elsie M. Hartmann, 91, of Summit, passed away peacefully at Manor Care in New Providence on June 14th. Interment is private. Relatives and friends are invited to a Special Memorial Service at The First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, 210 Morris Ave, Springfield, on Sunday, July 8th at 2pm which will be followed by fellowship.
Born in Germany and raised in Irvington, Elsie moved to Summit in 1953. She was a crossing guard in Summit for over 15 years and later worked as a proof reader for Martindale and Hubbell in New Providence until her retirement. A past volunteer with the Roosevelt School P.T.A. in Summit, Elsie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church where she had served as an Elder and as the Financial Secretary.
Elsie was the beloved wife of 37 years to the late George Hartmann and mother of the late George Neal Hartmann. She was the loving mother of Barbara Mahon, and Richard Hartmann and his wife Janet, cherished grandmother of Jessica Meyer and her husband Stephen, and Eric Hartmann and his fiancé Kelly, and dear sister of Carol Limon.
Donations in Elsie’s memory may be made to a favorite charity of choice.
