Elizabeth Pretto, 98, of Union, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Cornell Hall Care Center.
Betty was born on August 30, 1921 in Newark, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Allesandro and Maria (nee Sindaco) Cocco. Betty moved to Bloomfield before settling in Union.
She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church, Newark, NJ, where she was a member of the Senior Club. Betty was a fan of the New York Yankees.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Eliseo Pretto in 2006. She was the loving mother of Alex Pretto, Joann Pastewski and husband Lester, Kathleen Calamari and husband Edward, Pauline Midgley and husband Thomas and cherished grandmother of John Pretto, Richard Pretto, Robert Pretto, Mark Pastewski and wife Leah, Jason Wasco and wife Jessica and Joshua Midgley. She is also the loving great-grandmother of Hannah Pretto, Hailey Pretto, Lia Pretto, Laike Wasco, Katelyn Wasco and Nathan Meish. In addition, she is survived by her brother Victor Cocco and wife Doris. She was predeceased by her siblings Angelo Cocco and sister Angelina Pugliese.
A private family viewing will be held on Monday, March 30, 2020 at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union, NJ 07083. A private committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
