Eleanor Sostowski Taras, 88, of Chatham, NJ and formerly of Ithaca, NY died peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2017.
Eleanor was born on July 30, 1928 in Archbald, PA. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Mary (Narvid) Sostowski.
Eleanor lived in Idaho before settling in Ithaca, NY. She worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for Jewell Interiors for many years and was the former assistant to a retired treasurer of Cornell University. Eleanor was a former active parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Ithaca, NY and member of the Ithaca Garden Club. She was a current parishioner of Corpus Christi Church, Chatham, NJ and member of the Chatham Seniors Club. Eleanor loved reading, crossword puzzles and card games. She cherished time spent with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony F. Taras. She was the loving mother of Robert Taras of Las Vegas, NV, Raymond Taras of Bronxville, NY, and Linda Littlejohn and husband Scott of New Providence, NJ. She was the devoted “Baci” of Ryan, Heather, Grace, David, and Emma. In addition, she is survived by many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham, NJ 07928. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd., Chatham, NJ. An interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Carbondale, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to St. Catherine of Siena Parish or Corpus Christi Church.
