Philanthropist, 95 of Chatham Township died on April 4, 2020 at Juniper Village Chatham, NJ.  A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Internment is at Fairmont Cemetery, Chatham. Burial services will be private.

Born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin on July 9, 1924, Eileen lived in Chatham Township 50 years. She is a member of Corpus Christie Roman Catholic Church and the Chatham Seniors. Eileen is co-founder of the JEM Charitable Foundation with her husband Joseph. Their foundation helped found the Joseph and Eileen Matt Acute Dialysis Unit at Morristown Medical Center. As the foundations active President, Mrs. Matt expanded the scope of the JEM Foundation including sponsoring the Cancer Outreach Program at Morristown Medical Center providing care to those without insurance. The JEM Foundation thru Mrs. Matt’s guidance are also active contributors to the hospitals Cancer, Cardiac, Psychiatric, Dialysis and Neurological units and were active contributors to the hospitals new emergency room expansion project. The JEM Foundation also actively supports The Chatham Emergency Squad and Eva’s Village in Patterson where their funding helps feed the hungry, shelters the homeless, cures the addicted and provides medical treatment to the homeless and working poor of New Jersey and Corpus Christie Roman Catholic Church. Eileen is predeceased by her husband Joseph, her son Michael, her brother Robert Gagan and sister Rosemary Gagan Weeks and her parents Francis and Florence Gagan. Surviving is her son Dr. Thomas Matt of Providence, RI. Donations in Mrs. Matt’s name may be made to the Morristown Medical Center Foundation. 475 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07962-1956.
