Dr. Benjamin F. Rush, Jr.-A Wonderful and loving person


Dr. Benjamin F. Rush, Jr., 89 passed peacefully on February 22, 2013 at his home in Summit, NJ. He was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii until going off to college in California. He served in the Army during the Korean War as a surgeon in a M.A.S.H. unit. He lived in Summit for the last 44 years. Dr. Rush was a member of numerous medical organizations and received many awards for his dedication and research. Our Father was a world traveler, loved photography, golf, and recently coin collecting. Dr. Rush was Chairman of Surgery for 25 years at UMDNJ in Newark and after retiring served as a Distinguished Professor of Surgery. He is pre-deceased by his wife Norah Grant Rush and his brother Dwight Rush. Dr. Rush is survived by his two sons, Steve and his wife Lynda of Edison, NJ, Chris and his wife Cynthia, grandfather of Kelly Christian and her husband Jason, Casey and Elizabeth Rush, and a great-grandson Liam Christian all of Woodstock, Ga. Ben is also survived by his sister Janice Welsh and her husband David of Kahului. Hawaii.
