Dorothy Stanglein

Dorothy Stanglein, devoted mother and grandmother, of Westfield, formerly of Short Hills, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2018. She was 98.

Born in St. Louis, Mo., graduated Cleveland High School, 1938, and married in 1941 to her husband Warren. In 1956, they moved to Berkeley Heights, NJ where they raised their family.  Dorothy was a founding member of the Westminster Presbyterian  Church there and a dedicated employee of Bell Labatories in Murray Hill for 25 years.

Moving to Short Hills, she and her husband were active members of the Community Congregational  Church and the Millburn-Short Hills Little League.

Dorothy was an avid walker, walking 2 miles daily in her home towns of Short Hills and Westfield, and enjoyed seeing fellow walkers along the way.  She joined the Westfield YMCA when she was 94 and could no longer walk alone.

Predeceased by her husband Warren after 65 years of marriage.  Surving are daughter Cherie Stanglein Bliwise, Westfield; son Terry Stanglein and grandson Nate Stanglein, Northampton, Pa.;  grandson Ged Bliwise, Westfield, NJ; granddaughter Rebecca Stanglein Bullard, Tulsa, OK. Four great grandchildren Freya, Gunnar, Cecilia, and Ethan. In addition, surviving is her brother Clifford Cromer, Belton, MO.

A memorial service will be held at the Community Congregational Church, 200 Hartshorn Drive, Short Hills on Saturday, June 30, at 11 am. All friends, neighbors, and  congregants are welcome. Private interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
