David Paul Nelson of Chatham, New Jersey, passed away at the age of 55 on January 30, 2021.   Son of Henry and Serene (Dunn) Nelson, Dave was born and raised in New Providence.  Dave attended Our Lady of Peace Grade School and New Providence High School, where he met some of his closest lifelong friends. He took great pride in his son David Nelson Jr. Esq., a courageous young man who served our country with honor in the U.S. Army.  Dave married his wife Erin (Yaklich) and moved to Chatham in 1999.  Free time was spent with family and friends in the islands and at the Jersey Shore.  Dave’s larger-than-life personality and his tremendous work ethic made him the success that he was. He started his career as the bar manager at Rod’s Steakhouse and Grille before becoming a leading financial advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors.   For over 20 years, he dedicated himself to his clients.  He enjoyed music, automobiles, and the beach.  His quick wit and generosity will be remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

Beloved husband of Erin and loving father to David Jr. and fiancée Katherine Marantz, Dave is survived by his father Henry Wagner Nelson; brother Henry Jr; sister Serene Marie D’Ambrisi and husband Tom; sister Jeanne Marie Rosario and husband Paul; David Jr.’s mother Michelle Caputo; and numerous adoring nieces and nephews.
