Constance “Connie” M. Casey

Constance “Connie” M. Casey, 95, of Chatham, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

Connie was born on August 3, 1921 in East Orange, NJ. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius A. and Gertrude (nee Jensen) Mills.

Connie attended grammar school at Miss Clark’s School in East Orange and went to Orange High School. She furthered her education at Berkeley Secretarial School in East Orange, NJ. In her earlier years, she worked at Liberty Mutual in Newark, NJ.

She was a long-time resident of Chatham of 59 years. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church, Chatham, NJ, a member of Fish & Game Club and a former Brownie Leader.

Constance’s two primary loves were her family and the town of Chatham. She enjoyed being with her beloved grandchildren. She had a great love for animals especially collie dogs. She was an avid birdwatcher and loved spending time in her garden. She was an excellent cook and loved hosting holidays. Connie liked knitting and was very artistic and imaginative.

Constance was predeceased by her beloved husband, Daniel Francis Casey, Jr. in 1992. She was the loving mother of four children; Trudy Higgins of Berkeley Heights, NJ, Wendy Sullivan and husband Timothy of Gillette, NJ, Daniel F. Casey, III and wife Sandra of Chatham, NJ, and Suzette Macken and husband Christopher of Lafayette, NJ. She was the cherished Nana of Bridget, Matthew, Casey, Timothy, III. Daniel, IV, Bryn, Michaela, Mills, and Mackenzie. She was predeceased by her sister, Mavis Cahan.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham, NJ 07928. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Church, 85 Washington Avenue, Chatham, NJ 07928. An interment will follow at Fair Mount Cemetery, Chatham, NJ. In Connie’s memory, donations can be made to the Chatham Boro Volunteer Fire Department, 1 Firehouse Plaza, Chatham, NJ 07928.
