Cheryl Romeo, 70, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017.
Cheryl was born on January 15, 1947 in Orange, NJ, the first of nine children born to the late George William and Helen(née Schlachter) Moore. She grew up in Orange, NJ and later moved to West Orange, NJ.
Cheryl graduated from Orange High School in 1965 where she was an honor student and a member of the National Honor Society. Upon graduating she worked as a secretary in East Orange and later as a legal secretary for Judge Napolitano in his NJ and NYC offices.
Cheryl married Andrew Romeo in July of 1968 and soon after devoted her time to taking care of her two sons and her home of which she was very proud. She was an avid reader who loved cooking, gardening, and flowers; especially marigolds and roses. Cheryl enjoyed going to plays and taking trips to New York City. She would listen to a variety of music including Andrea Bocelli, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and especially classical music. Christmas was her favorite holiday, usually spending Christmas Eve having a special dinner which would include “the seven fishes” and pasta. She had a special talent for preparing Rice Pudding and delicious anisette Christmas cookies.
Throughout her life Cheryl was devoted to her family. She was a proud and loving mother to her two sons and adored her five grandchildren.
Cheryl was predeceased by her husband, Andrew and her grandson, Andrew Rocco Romeo. She is survived by her sons Rocco and Andrew and her grandchildren Alexandra, Gianna, Joseph, and Annabella. In addition she is survived by her siblings Susan, Linda, Gary, Diane, Cyndi, Daniel, David, and Ruth as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street in Chatham. There will be a visitation from 12pm until the service begins at 2pm.To send the family a condolence please visit www.www.bradleyfuneralhomes.com
