Catherine Wasko Erdman, 93, of Union, NJ, passed away on Thursday, January 2 , 2014. Born in Newark, Mrs. Erdman lived in Union since 1955. She was the wife of Conrad J. Erdman, who predeceased her. Earlier working for Western Electric and Prudential, she rose to become executive secretary to the VP of Personnel of Varityper Corporation, East Hanover, NJ. After retirement, she worked at Nomahegan Swim Club in Westfield, NJ.
Catherine was always a sharp dresser who made many of her own clothes. She loved to spend time at the Jersey Shore, and enjoyed shopping for bargains. She was a good dancer in her day, doing her service as a USO greeter during WWII. Last Spring, she and her then fiancee’s Conrad war correspondence was the subject of a Newark Star Ledger article.
She is survived by her devoted sons Richard C.Erdman and Donald Erdman,and his wife Nancy, all of Union; three grandchildren ,Lauren and Christopher of Union, and Jered Kolbert of Sewickley, Pa. and great grandchildren Kennedy and Karlina Kolbert. She was predeceased by her brother Stephen Wasko.
