Carmela Monaco, 93, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 . Carmela was born on September 26, 1926 in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Italy. She was a long time resident of Springfield. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Grace (nee Palumbo) D’Arrisso. She worked as a seamstress, and enjoyed, cooking and baking. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima, Short Hills, NJ. Carmela was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gino Monaco in 1993 and brothers Antonio, Angelo D’Arrisso. She was the loving mother of Phyllis Gulino and husband John, Joanne Campochiaro and husband Richard, and Michael Monaco and cherished grandmother of Gina and husband Chris, Daniel and Steven and great-grandchildren Christian, Alexa, and Gianna. In addition, she is survived by her sister Josephine D’Arrisso.
A private family gathering will be held on Monday, May 4, 2020 with a graveside service to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson’s Foundation.
