Carlo Prantil, 79, of Summit, NJ, passed away on November 23, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave., in Summit on Thursday, November 29th at 10:45am. Interment will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery. Born in Prio′, Italy, the son of Lino and Serafina (Tomaselli) Prantil, Carlo came to the United States in 1955. First settling in Brooklyn, he moved to Summit in 1964. In his early years, Carlo worked in construction. He later worked for the family’s small engine repair business before going off on his own as the owner of P & P Lawn Mowers in Maplewood. After selling the business in 1985, he worked with family members grinding knives and slicing machines for restaurants and super markets. Carlo was a longtime parishioner at St. Teresa’s and enjoyed saltwater fishing and trips to the casinos.
Carlo was the beloved husband of 57 years to Giustina “Tina” Prantil. He was the loving father of Paul Prantil and his wife Deborah and Judy Rossmeisl and her husband Brian. He is also survived by his cherished grandsons, Michael Prantil and his wife Erica and David Prantil, his dear sister, Anna Zeni and her husband Emanuelle, and dear brother, Paolo Prantil and his wife Margerita as well as many loving relatives. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carlo’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
