Bruce W. Shewmaker, 70, of Short Hills, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at home. He was born on January 1, 1946 in Columbus, OH ushering in the baby boomer generation. Bruce was a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He started his investment banking career on Wall Street in 1968 working in various financial positions including; The Irving Trust Company, The Chase Manhattan Bank as Vice President, Time Inc. as Investment Director, Merrill Lynch Capital Markets as President and Chairman of various Venture Capital Partnerships, The US Russia Investment Fund as President and MVC Capital as a Managing Director. Bruce was a member of NYVCA. He was a respected and accomplished Venture Capital Investment Banker.

He was an active member of Christ Church, Short Hills, NJ the National Council of Churches. Bruce was a proud alumnus of Upper Arlington HS ’64 and OSU, Go Bucks! He was a family man, hardworking, and a great storyteller. Bruce liked playing tennis, sailing, and traveling around the world.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia Connolly Shewmaker. He was the loving father of Sarah Brochu and husband Timothy, Andrew Shewmaker and wife Kimberly, Ellen Shewmaker, Synda Miller and husband John and grandfather of Aleda and Wil Henderson. He is survived by his brother Blake Shewmaker, sister Barbara Deafenbaugh, and 22 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Christ Church, 66 Highland Ave., Short Hills, NJ 07078. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to advance immunotherapy research in melanoma, lung cancer. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
