Barbara J. Henneberry, 66, of Chatham, passed away Tuesday April 19, 2016 at home, after a short period of hospice care. She was comfortable and at peace, in the presence of loved ones. This was the conclusion of a nearly 4-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Born Barbara Zoltowksi to Mieczyslaw and Genevieve (Dowgiallo) and raised in Jersey City, Barbara earned her Bachelors degree in English literature from St. Peter’s College in 1971 and a Master’s degree in science education from Fairleigh Dickinson University many years later. Barbara raised her family in Passaic, then Summit, before moving to Chatham 8 years ago. A school teacher for over 40 years, Barbara dedicated almost 30 of them to Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Whippany, until her retirement last June.
Barbara is survived by her loving children Richard M. Henneberry of Hardwick and Julia Sharma and husband Neal of Westfield; adoring grandchildren Reece, Summer Rae, and Remy Sharma; siblings Edward Zoltowski, Christina Ventre, Irene Pisciotta, and Raymond Zoltowski and their families; and her best friend Joe.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:30am at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd., Chatham. Cremation will follow at Somerset Hills Crematory, Basking Ridge.
