~~Barbara Helen Schneider, 73, of Millburn passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017. Born in Rutherford and raised in Whippany, the daughter of Raymond and Dorothy Liebold, Barbara graduated from Hanover Park High School. Barbara attended Green Mountain College in VT before entering The Dominican Order at Caldwell College for 2 years. At the age of 45, Barbara received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Kean College. She was a cherished preschool teacher for St. Rose of Lima Academy and an active parishioner at St. Rose. A dog lover, she could often be found at the local dog parks with her Golden Retriever, Murphy, followed by her King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Wellie. Barbara loved travel and all things New England, especially Cape Cod. She was a history buff and enjoyed frequent visits to Williamsburg, VA.

Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Schneider. She was the loving mother of Ryan Raymond Schneider, married to Donna Lynn Schneider; and Mary Schneider Bowden, married to David Wyman Bowden. She was the cherished Grammy of Kate, Elizabeth, Robert and Harry; the dear sister of Deborah MacKenzie married to the late Robert MacKenzie, the late Paul Liebold survived by his wife Elizabeth Sullivan Liebold and her Japanese “sister” Ayako Saito.

There will not be visitation or a traditional wake. No flowers please. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.

A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave. in Short Hills on Friday, February 24th at 10:00am. Entombment will follow at the St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum. Arrangements have been managed by Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home in Springfield. The family is hosting a Celebration of Life – Open House at The Orange Lawn and Tennis Club in South Orange from 12-4 following the funeral arrangements.
