~~Barbara E. Wade, 75, of New Providence passed away on April 5, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Man St in Chatham on Monday, April 18th at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 4 to 8pm.
Barbara was raised in the Richmond Hills section of Queens and Floral Park, Nassau County where she graduated from High School. She had lived in Chatham Township for many years before moving to New Providence in 1992. In her early years, Barbara was a secretary with Dean Witter in NYC before taking time to raise her family. Later on she worked for the Independent Press and as a program assistant for Time Out Adult Day Care in Madison. Barbara was a Cub Scout Leader and active with the Girl Scouts in Chatham Township. She was also a member of the New Providence Women’s Club. Barbara enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and cross stitching as well as traveling and hot air balloon festivals.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Wade. She was the loving mother of Barbara A. Wade, Thomas Wade, Owen Wade and his wife Mineko and Elizabeth Wade. She is also survived by her sister Marjorie Haywood, her fiancé Doug Steitz and her father’s second wife, Olivia Haywood. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Raptor Trust, 1390 White Bridge Rd, Millington, NJ 07946.
