Barbara Ann Peterson

Barbara A. Peterson, 51, of Madison and formerly of Chatham Twp., NJ passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at her home.

Barbara was born on December 1, 1961 in Passaic, NJ. She was the daughter of Capt. James H. and Mary Ann (nee Morrow) Peterson.

Barbara was a 1980 graduate of Chatham Twp. High School, and continued her education at Mitchell College, New London, CT. She then transferred to Fairleigh Dickinson University and received a B.A. in 1985. She attended Kean College and received a post-baccalaureate certification in Visual Communications in 1988.

Barbara was a member of the Fairleigh Dickinson Alumni Association, a member of the Madison Area YMCA, and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Chatham, NJ. She loved to swim and ski, enjoyed walking, loved visiting with family, and was a talented painter. Barbara had a one-woman show involving oil and acrylic paintings, wood and clay sculpture, and drawings while at Fairleigh Dickinson, and she displayed a modern painting at the company opening of the JCP&L Corporate Gallery.

Barbara was an amazing young woman. She was always ready with a smile and hug. She was admired by all those who came in contact with her. She was very much loved by her near and far-flung family. Barbara will leave so many wonderful memories for everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her significant other: John J. Patrisco of Madison, NJ; Parents: Jim and Mary Ann Peterson of Chatham Twp., NJ; Sister: Lynn Moore and the best nephew ever, Drew Moore, both of Chatham Twp., NJ; Carol and Wayne Miller, Erica and Sarah Miller, sister, brother-in-law, and nieces of John Patrisco; and all of the Peterson and Morrow aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Wm. A. Bradley & Son, 345 Main Street, Chatham, NJ 07928. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
