Arthur E. Schweitzer, 89, of Union, NJ, passed peacefully on October 3, 2017. Born in Elizabeth, Arthur lived in Germany for 2 years during the depression. He was raised in Irvington, and a 1946 graduate of Irvington High School. Arthur has lived in Union since 1954. He served proudly in the Army during the Korean War, 1950-1952. Arthur was the owner of Vulcan Tool Co. in Union from 1974-1993 and also the owner of Sitting Bull Tavern in Piscataway. He was a member of the Elks Lodge & Swim Club of Union and the Deutscher Club of Clark. Arthur is pre-deceased by his wife, Edith Schweitzer, he is survived by his three children, Eleanor Schweitzer, Kenneth, Thomas and his wife Michelle and his grandson, Thomas. A Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10 am at the Bradley Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave. Union. Interment Hollywood Memorial Park.
