Andrew Richard Gates, 52, of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, formerly of Hoboken, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019. Born in Rye, New York, Andy was raised in Duxbury, Massachusetts. He received his undergraduate degree from Skidmore College, and went on to earn a Master’s degree from Bentley University. For nearly 20 years, Andrew lived in Hoboken, New Jersey, where he met his fiancé, Dana. Together they recently made Scotch Plains their home. Andrew worked as an analyst with JP Morgan in Jersey City.  Previously, he worked for SmartStream Technologies in New York. Andrew loved rooting for the Red Sox and the Patriots, and also loved to travel. He was smart and quick-witted with a dry sense of humor. The brotherhood of friends he has left were truly a family that he chose. What Andrew loved the most in life was spending his time with Emma and Dana.  The light and humor he brought to this world will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
