Adelle D. Dapkus, 89, of New Vernon, New Jersey passed on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.
Adelle was born on July 25, 1925 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Villim and Mariona (nee Lazaunik) Paulauskas.
Adelle was a graduate of Newark State College and also attended the National Academy of Art. She was a fine artist and started painting very early in life. She taught as an art teacher for the Linden School District for many years. She enjoyed gardening, camping and traveling. She hiked all the way down the Grand Canyon and slept in almost all 50 states. She loved classical music, including Bach and Beethoven.
She is survived by her spouse, Reid Morrow, a daughter, Marilyn Chapman, and son, Frank Dapkus. She was the grandmother to Benjamin and Lucy Chapman. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Dapkus and daughter, Emily Dapkus.
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ the King church located on 16 Blue Mill Rd., New Vernon, N.J. on October 18, 2014 at 10am.
