Achilles “Ike” Grassano, Custom Tailor & Designer, longtime Springfield resident
Grassano, Achilles, 84, on Thursday, May 17th at St. Barnabas Hospital. Born in Newark to the late Domenick and Adeline, Ike enlisted in the US Army after high school. He proudly served his country during WWII. Upon his return to the states, he enrolled into design school in NYC. He was a master tailor and clothing designer, and worked with his father in the family owned business, “Grassano & Son Tailors”. He worked for Liz Claiborne and later for Macy’s in NYC as their Quality Control Director until he retired. During this time he was fortunate to travel the world for the company. He thoroughly enjoyed this and was very proud of his work.
Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his loving sister Madeline Grassano.
